Jukka Mäkinen

MARE BALTICUM 2024 Jury President

The Organizing Committee of MARE BALTICUM 2024 has invited Jukka Mäkinen, from Finland, as the Jury President of the exhibition. Jukka Mäkinen FRPSL is an experienced FIP judge, with a FIP Jury Fellow title and a FIP Team Leader qualification.
In December 2023, Jukka Mäkinen received an exceptional recognition, the FIP Medal of Appreciation, for his long-term responsibility in the FIP Revenue Commission and for his work for revenue philately in general.

Being one of Finland’s most successful philatelists of all times, Jukka Mäkinen has received several Large Gold medals on FIP level with three different exhibits. They treat the earliest classic revenue stamps of Finland and Sweden. In 2011, he won the Grand Prix National of the Nordic exhibition Nordia 2011 in Jyväskylä, and the Championship Class Grand Prix of a National exhibition in Järvenpää. However, the very first Grand Prix he achieved already in 1993 in the Youth Class: the Grand Prix d’Honneur with a Thematic exhibit in Alienor-Ville d’Anglet, France. In Traditional philately, he focuses on Classic Hungary, and in Postal History on the period of Greek Large Hermes Heads.

In total, he has exhibited 72 times and served as a juror 24 times on various exhibition levels. On FIP and FEPA levels, he has been judging in Tampere, Prague, Budapest, London, Singapore, New York and Cape Town.

Other Jury Members of MARE BALTICUM 2024 are to be invited in early spring of 2024
